N.C.’s BLADEN COUNTY (WECT) – Just after 2:30 on Sunday morning, a phone came in reporting a loud disturbance coming from an open field on an abandoned piece of land at the intersection of Center Road and Twisted Hickory Road.
The call was upgraded to shots fired as deputies were responding, and they later learned that a victim had been shot before they arrived.

The shooting was the result of an altercation, according to a Bladen County Sheriff’s Office official.
Deputies discovered 24-year-old Chasity Baxley with a gunshot wound when they arrived. She was sent in critical condition to Bladen County Hospital.
Makei Hill, a 17-year-old guy, was discovered with a gunshot wound and transported to the hospital by Bladen County EMS. When we got there, they declared him dead.
Javonta Purdie, 30, was discovered deceased at the location while investigators were conducting their investigation.

At the abandoned property, there were between 150–200 individuals gathering in the field, but they dispersed when law enforcement showed up. At this moment, there is no information on a suspect.
According to a news release from the sheriff’s office, “Bladen County Sheriff’s Office is actively working with The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives also known as ATF to solve this horrific crime.”
