Bel-Air fans, please join us! The show’s second season has just ended, but I’m sure I’m not the only one wondering if there will be a third. After all, no one would object to learning more about Will Smith’s winding path from the mean streets of West Philadelphia to the gated communities of Bel-Air.
On February 13, 2022, Bel-Air premiered on Peacock. I rapidly rose to the ranks of the streaming service’s most popular shows. The show is based on Cooper’s short fan film of the same name, and it is a remake of the popular 1990s sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.
The story follows a young man who, after getting into trouble in his native Philadelphia, is exiled to Los Angeles to live with his wealthy uncle.
After two highly successful seasons, viewers are eager for more. Therefore, viewers’ most important question is whether a third season has been ordered. Read on to put an end to any more wild speculation.
Will there be a Season 3 of Bel-Air?
In March 2023, before the second season had even finished airing on the streamer, Peacock renewed the show for a third season. On March 17, 2023, the cast confirmed the news with an Instagram image in which they each held up three fingers to show their enthusiasm.
Jabari Banks, who plays Will, announced on Instagram, writing, “That’s right, we’re back for season 3!” We owe an outstanding gratitude to fans like you for making this possible. Stay tuned to @peacock for more #belairpeacock streaming.
He further added-
“Working on BelAir for the past two years of my life has been an amazing, life-changing opportunity. I’ve learned so much about myself, and I can’t thank you all enough for your continued support! Bringing this story back to life was no easy task, but through love anything is possible.”
“We have poured so much love into this project. We’ve poured so much of ourselves into this project. Seriously, I’m so excited for season 3 guys!!”
When will the third season of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air premiere?
There will be a third season of Bel-Air. The network renewed the series in March of 2023, which is great news for viewers. The timeline for filming the upcoming season has been set for months, making the premiere date even more predictable.
Given that the show’s first two seasons launched in February, Season 3 of Bel-Air is likely to follow suit and debut in 2024.
What will Season 3 of Bel-Air be about?
The following season will undoubtedly pick up where the last one left off. With an early boost from the opportunistic Doc Hightower (Brooklyn McLinn), Will’s basketball game skyrocketed to new heights in season two.
But in the future, Banks is more curious about his personality off the court. His recent comments to Collider in which he said, “I wanna see who Will is outside of basketball,”
“I wanna see who Will is outside of basketball. If you take that away and strip down the layers of who he says he is on the outside, who is he really? We get to see him connected to basketball this season in a way that’s huge, but if you take that away, then what? That’s something that I’m excited about.”
Is this a hint of what’s to come in the next season? We won’t know the entire picture until the summary for season three is made public.
Who plays what role in Season 3 of Bel-Air?
Unfortunately, there is likewise no casting news to report at this time. To be sure, we can count on seeing familiar faces like Holmes (Philip “Uncle Phil” Banks), Cassandra Freeman (Vivian “Aunt Viv” Banks), Olly Sholotan (Carlton Banks), Coco Jones (Hilary Banks), Akira Akbar (Ashley Banks), Jimmy Akingbola (Geoffrey), Jordan L. Jones (Jazz), and Simone Joy Jones (Lisa Wilkes).
Tatyana Ali, who portrayed Ashley Banks in the original Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, came back in a recurring role as a teacher named Ms. Hughes. In addition, Daphne Maxwell Reid had a recurring role as a guest star in the sequel season.
According to showrunner Carla Banks-Waddles, more original cast members may return in the future as long as it makes sense.
We’re big fans of bringing back original cast members in these reboots, but we never want them to feel like they’re being crammed in. Tatyana told Boardroom in March that playing Ms. Hughes felt “natural” because “she touches on everybody in the Banks family and the Bel-Air Academy family.”
Is there a trailer available?
Due to the recent conclusion of the show’s second season, no trailer is currently available. Meanwhile, check out the preview for Season 2:
