A Chicago woman has been found safe after her family reported her mἰssing in Japan. Kandace Schipper, 29, went mἰssing when she ceased communicating with her family while on vacation to Tokyo.
Schipper started her solo vacation on May 4 but became “unreachable” on June 4, according to a Facebook post by her sister, Nicole Willea.
Willea later updated her post to confirm the location of her sister.
The woman’s family said, “We’re relieved to share that we’ve obtained our beloved daughter, sister and cousin Kandace Schipper’s location.”
“Thank you to everyone who helped us spread the word. We’re grateful for every email, call, and share and are now focused on bringing her home safely.”

Family members claimed to have texted and used social media virtually everyday to contact Schipper before she left. On June 4, “the communication stopped” between Schipper and her loved ones, according to Martha Vanderlugt, a family friend, and “a mutual friend” was the last person to speak with her.
Schipper’s sister Chelse Rambo stated that the last time she spoke to Schipper was when the family celebrated his birthday.
According to a Facebook post by Willea, Schipper was last seen on June 5 in the Shibuya City region. Her last purchase with her credit card was from a Shibuya City restaurant dated June 5.
A short while later Schipper’s friend Kendra Ensing reported mἰssing to the Chicago Police Department.
Vanderlugt said, “Everything seemed fine. She said she was having a great time. I had spoke to her and yeah, we didn’t have any reason to believe something was wrong.”
Schipper will currently depart for the United States on June 29. Her family has already expressed gratitude to everyone who has contributed to the search for the mἰssing Chicagoan over the past two weeks.
The family stated that finding information is a difficult task and wouldn’t have been feasible for them without the generosity of so many.
