In the world of sports, January 26 is known as a “dark day.” A helicopter crash k!lled Kobe Bryant, his teenage daughter, and seven other people. Millions of his fans all over the world still find it hard to believe that “Mamba” is no longer with us.
Three months after his de@th, an autopsy showed that Bryant died from a blow to the head. His brain was badly hurt, and 30% of his body was burned.
The autopsy also showed that the pilot who was taking Bryant and other people to a basketball tournament had not been drinking or using drugs. When their helicopter crashed into a hillside outside of Los Angeles, USA, in January, all nine of them were badly hurt.
Bryant’s body was found outside the wreckage of the helicopter. His fingerprints had to be used to figure out who he was. The NBA star and his daughter were both k!lled.
The report that was made public showed that the basketball player and his fellow travelers died instantly from blunt-force trauma. Juan Carrillo, Senior Deputy Medical Examiner said –
“These injuries are rapidly if not instantly fatal.”
The autopsy report states (as reported by mec.lacounty.gov) –
“On January 28, the cause of de@th for all nine decedents was certified as blunt trauma. The manner of de@th was certified as accident.”
The accident that k!lled the former Los Angeles Lakers player, his daughter Gianna, the pilot Ara Zobayan, and the other people on board, was most likely not planned.
Zobayan, a skilled pilot, took Bryant, his daughter, and her teammates to Mamba Sports Academy in California in January. The pilot went up quickly and was about to break through the clouds when the helicopter made a sudden turn and jumped into some hills.

When it hit the ground, it was going about 296 kph. As a result, the impact caused a helicopter to take off and scattered pieces of the plane. The wreckage was in flames, but the burns on the bodies were found to have happened after the people had died.
The autopsy showed that Bryant had a crown tattoo on his right shoulder, right above where his wife’s name, Vanessa, was written. Three of his four daughters’ names were also written on his right arm.
The National Transportation Safety Board hasn’t decided what caused the crash, but they have said that there were no signs that the helicopter was broken.
Vanessa, Bryant’s wife, has already filed a lawsuit against the pilot, saying that he was “careless and negligent” to fly in the fog and should have stopped.
Zobayan’s brother, Berge Zobayan has also filed in court and has stated that ‘Bryant knew the risks of the helicopter and his survivors aren’t entitled to damages from the pilot’s estate’.
