As of now, Jenna Ortega has departed her Wednesday residence. The Netflix actor ditched her usual Addams Family-inspired attire in favor of a goddess-like brown Gucci gown for the 2023 Golden Globes. Despite the various cutouts in the flowy design that exposed her flat stomach, the sleeves reached the floor and the train trailed behind her.
With the exception of her tightly winged eyeliner, Ortega kept her glam look gentle and piled silver Tiffany & Co. necklaces for a little of edge. Her freshly cut shag hairdo looked amazing with its disheveled caramel color.
Since this is Ortega’s first Golden Globes nomination, she has extra reason to celebrate. She was recognized for her leading performance in the Netflix comedy series Wednesday, for which she received the award for best actress in a TV musical. Nominations were also made for the show in the categories of best television series and best television series, musical or comedy.

On the red carpet, she told ELoni !’s Love that she felt “amazing” to be nominated as a Latina actress and that she was happy with how much Wednesday blew up. As she accepted the award, she said, “We spent so much time on this show and worked really hard on it, so if people get any sort of joy or happy feeling from it that makes me very happy.”
She went on to say, “I’ve been doing this for over a decade now so I feel like I’ve watched Hollywood gradually open its doors and see more Latinos and Latinas in leading roles, and to be here tonight, I feel very fulfilled.”

Ortega co-stars in the new version of The Addams Family with Catherine Zeta-Jones, who plays her mother Morticia Addams, and Luis Guzmán, who portrays her father Gomez Addams. Christina Ricci, who plays Wednesday’s beloved instructor Marilyn Thornhill, has become a fan favorite.
Ricci is familiar with the Addams family canon because she played Wednesday when she was a kid. Ortega may be a first-timer at the Golden Globes, but she’s been a fashion icon on the rise for quite some time. The 20-year-old star, who made her name as horror’s new gem on her press tour on Wednesday, became a hot property after she attended the Met Gala for the first time in May while wearing Valentino.
Ortega and her stylist, Enrique Melendez, drew from a collection of dark heroine ensembles inspired by Wednesday Addams, with the first being (cue the ad hoc fanfare) a lace Versace gown worn for the premiere on Wednesday.
Ortega, who told PEOPLE last year, “People have been telling me I look like her since I was 6 years old,” and was described by Melendez as a person who “completely commits,” also wore updated versions of Wednesday’s white collar.
Ortega told PEOPLE last year that she has used Neutrogena products ever since they were introduced to her mother when she was a child, which may have contributed to the feeling that her casting as Wednesday’s Emily was predestined.

While she was growing up, “that was the only skincare brand I saw in my house,” she told PEOPLE. Ortega said that she still maintains her skin’s pristine condition by using the products on a monthly basis.

She discussed the damaging effects of “dust, mud, and blood,” as well as the cold, on her skin during the course of some of her endeavors, like Wednesdays. However, there are some makeup artists who can be a real pain to work with on set, and this may be a problem even when shooting isn’t going on.
“I think any insecurity I had with my skin was more in terms of working with makeup professionals,” she told PEOPLE. “One time, they said they couldn’t match my skin tone properly and that my freckles made my face look dirty, so they had to put makeup on to hide it. I used to hide my face from the world because I was so self-conscious about my freckles.”
Ortega said she’s gotten over it and learned to embrace her freckles, but that the experience “stuck in my memory… especially hearing it so young.” That’s why she thinks it’s so important for influential people to spread messages of hope and the value of individuality.
