Lauren Boebert, a fiery representative for the Republican party, said on Tuesday that she had filed for divorce from her husband.
The Colorado congresswoman said in a statement obtained by The Independent-
“It is with a heavy weight on my heart that I have filed for divorce from my husband. I am grateful for our years of marriage together and for our beautiful children, all of whom deserve privacy and love as we work through this process.”
“I’ve always been faithful in my marriage, and I believe strongly in marriage, which makes this announcement that much more difficult. This is truly about irreconcilable differences.”
“I do not intend to discuss this matter any further in public out of respect for our children and will continue to work hard to represent the people of Colorado’s 3rd Congressional District.”
Mrs. Boebert and Mr. Jayson Boebert have been happily married since 2007. They have four sons and currently reside in Silt, Colorado after having had a restaurant in Rifle until the summer of last year when their lease was not extended.
Ms. Boebert, a staunch conservative and outspoken Christian, became a grandma at the age of 36 when she announced in March that her son, then 17, and his girlfriend were expecting a child.
The battle between the mother-of-four and Aspen Democrat Adam Frisch was so close that it required a recount in November, and the MAGA backer ultimately prevailed. Mr. Frisch has begun a second effort to remove her from office.
