Finally, the eagerly anticipated Welcome to Derry IT prequel series from HBO Max has begun filming. The series will be produced by Andy and Barbara Muschietti, the showrunners will be Jason Fuchs and Brad Caleb Kane, and most of the cast has already been cast.

Andy Muschietti directed IT and IT: Chapter Two. All of this has been known for some time, but now, due to a post on Andy Muschietti’s Instagram account over the weekend, it seems like filming has started.

If you’re interested in learning how the ongoing WGA strike will affect Welcome to Derry, Movieweb provides the following information:

“While a large number of series and movies halt their productions in the midst of the Hollywood writers’ strike, HBO is moving forward with some of those that already have their scripts ready, like the second season of House of the Dragon and the long-awaited Welcome to Derry.”

Suppose you’re curious about the cast of Welcome to Derry. In that case, the following is a list of everyone we are aware of to be associated with the production (please note that as of this writing, we are unsure of who any of these people are playing): Stephen Rider, Madeline Stowe, Chris Chalk, Jovan Adepo, James Remar, and Taylour Paige.

Beyond that, there isn’t much information available. The series is claimed to take place decades in the past, before the events portrayed in Muschietti’s IT duology.

Regarding the name on that door, “Clint Bowers” is Henry Bowers’ grandfather. Henry Bowers was the bully who threatened the Loser’s Club in the Stephen King novel and the Muschietti IT movies.

You may remember that Butch, Henry’s father, worked as a Derry cop in Muschietti’s movies.  Our best bet is that Clint is Butch’s father, and we also assume he is equally deadly as the rest of that family.
