This past Friday(01-3-2023), the charges against a Brooklyn rapper indicted on nine counts for a gunshot at a private pool party on Long Island last summer that left three injured were reduced.

Remy “Fetty” Marshall, better known as “Fetty Luciano,” was initially charged with attempted murder and other offenses stemming from a shooting on July 10, 2022, at The Mansion at Glen Cove, a Great Gatsby-esque 187-room enclave on Nassau County’s Gold Coast known for hosting lavish weddings and other high-profile events.

At the time of the shooting, at least 150 guests were at The Mansion to celebrate Fendi’s birthday (Big Fendi is the rapper credited with discovering Nicki Minaj).

RSVPs were required, and the party had been widely publicized in advance, with one Instagram account calling it “NYC’s first premium open format music pool party with Bottle, Food, and Hookah Service.” One of the wounded was a security officer. Nobody was seriously hurt. Eleven days after the shooting, police located and arrested Luciano, 27.

An allegation of attempted murder was dropped against him because prosecutors claimed they lacked sufficient evidence. Nonetheless, Luciano was charged with three charges of second-degree assault. One count each of unlawful possession of a weapon, attempted second-degree assault, assault, and reckless endangerment, all felonies.

On Friday( 1-3-2023), Luciano, who now resides in Queens but was previously based in Brooklyn, entered a not-guilty plea.

His lawyer, Javier Alberto Solano, indicated that his client’s case was the “beginning of the end” when the district attorney dismissed the most serious accusation of attempted murder due to a lack of evidence. He claimed that the prosecution’s case against Luciano cannot be proven because no video nor other surveillance evidence exists and that witnesses who identified Luciano as the gunman were mistaken.

“There’s no gun to tie him to it. I don’t believe these witnesses know him,” said Solano. “Many times, the identifications are wrong.”

Prosecutors, however, claim that the rapper pulled a gun on another partygoer during an argument inside the estate and attempted to “pistol whip” him.

As per NBC New York, Prosecutors said-

“During that event, the gun discharged and a single bullet hit three different victims.”

If found guilty of the most severe count in the accusation, Luciano may be sentenced to 15 years in jail. His next court date is at the end of this month.

Mayor of Glen Cove Pamela Panzenbeck said individuals involved in the rioting were not from the area after the incident. She said that while she was aware that such private gatherings have resulted in noise complaints, this most recent occurrence was the final straw, and she swore to limit licenses at the site in the future. The wedding season was disrupted, and the venue temporarily lost its liquor license because of the incident.

“This defendant allegedly brought a loaded gun into a crowded private event and, during an altercation, discharged the weapon and struck three victims,” Nassau County District Attorney Anne Donnelly said in a statement Friday.”

“Thankfully, the defendant’s alleged reckless actions did not cause life-threatening injuries to the victims and no one else was hurt.”
