Inuyasha (犬夜叉, lit. “Dog Yaksha”) is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Rumiko Takahashi. From November 1996 until June 2008, it ran in Shogakukan’s shin manga magazine Weekly Shnen Sunday, and its chapters were collected in fifty-six tankbon volumes. Kagome Higurashi, a middle schooler in present-day Tokyo, falls into a well in her family’s shrine, and as a result, she is transported to the Sengoku period, where she meets the half-dog demon, half-human Inuyasha.

Kagome accidentally breaks the sacred Shikon Jewel into dozens of pieces, sending them flying throughout Japan after it emerges from deep within her body. As Inuyasha and Kagome embark on their mission to reassemble the Jewel, they are joined on their journey by the lecherous monk Miroku, the demon slayer Sango, and the fox demon Shipp. They go out together to retrieve the Shikon Jewel from the hands of the terrible half-demon Naraku and restore it to its former glory.

Anya & Inuyasha Lose Their Special Powers With The New Moon

In recent episodes of Spy x Family, Anya has learned—much to her dismay—that the day of the new moon coincides with the date of the upcoming tests at Eden Academy. Although Lord and Yor don’t notice, Anya is aware that with each new moon, her telepathic abilities are temporarily disabled.

It’s unclear why Anya believes the lunar cycle would interfere with her special abilities, but she’s sure it does, and viewers may anticipate that a powerless Anya will have a hard time passing her next examinations. Her new Great Pyrenees dog, Bond, can’t predict the results of the new moon tests, and she only has two weeks to prepare.

Worse, not only are Anya’s grades at stake, but so is Operation Strix and, by extension, global stability. Similarly, when a new moon comes, Inuyasha, the half-demon dog, loses all of his demon dog abilities. All of his superhuman abilities fade away as his hair turns black and his canine ears are replaced by human ones.

While in this condition, he is unable to use his Tetsusaiga sword to its full potential, nor can he swiftly recover or use his keen senses. Before, Inuyasha would retreat indoors to avoid danger, but now he has Kagome and the others to help him through these times.

The arrogant, combative tsundere hates it but has little choice; he can only wait for the new moon and pray that his deadliest foes don’t decide to strike then. Both Inuyasha and Anya, however, may find the positive in their new moon vulnerability.

How The New Moon Challenges Anya & Inuyasha To Grow & Adapt

At first glance, Anya and Inuyasha’s shared vulnerability during the new moon appears to be catastrophic. For dramatic purposes, they frequently experience these frailties during pivotal points in their individual series, during which they lose all of their powers and seem to gain nothing in exchange.

Luckily, they’re both shonen anime heroes, so they have the resilience and optimism to come out ahead. During the new moon, Inuyasha relies on his pals for support, which teaches this solitary, self-reliant half-demon the value of friendship and the strength of alliances. He’s the type to jump right in and take command, but he needs a team behind him to do anything.

When everyone on his team is a skilled fighter except for him, Inuyasha is put in a position where he must learn to work with others. In a similar vein, Anya from Spy x Family benefited from recognizing her weakness in advance. She’s fond of her abilities and is prone to cheating, but she and other youngsters her age need to learn to rely on themselves rather than on supernatural means.

One more way in which cheating harms Anya is by preventing her from developing as a person. In the end, she mustered all of her determination and bravery and began taking lessons from her new uncle Yuri. At first, Anya had no idea what the term “grammar” meant, but now she is learning to rely on herself in challenging situations.

Whether or whether her telepathic abilities ever fully develop, Anya’s efforts to strengthen her mind and improve her self-discipline will serve her well. Her efforts have paid off, as her most recent test results are her best ever. So, even if Anya doesn’t realise it, the new moon is actually a reliable companion.
