Idaho’s MOSCOW – Police still don’t have any leads two weeks after four University of Idaho students were fatally stabbed in an off-campus rented property.

A few yards from campus, Kaylee Goncalves, 21, Madison Mogen, 21, Xana Kernodle, 20, and Ethan Chapin, 20, were discovered dead on November 13 hours after being allegedly attacked while sleeping, according to authorities. There were the three women that lived there, and Chapin came there to see Kernodle, his girlfriend.

According to Aaron Snell, communications director for the Idaho State Police, investigators have so far interviewed more than 150 people and received more than a thousand tips related to the case. However, they’re urging anyone with information to come forward, even if it’s just a small detail.

According to the University of Idaho, Chapin was a member of the Sigma Chi fraternity and majored in administration of recreation, sport, and tourism. About 200 yards away from the crime scene, across a field, lies his fraternity home.

Both Kernodle and Mogen majored in marketing and were members of the sorority Pi Beta Phi. Goncalves was a member of Alpha Phi and majored in general studies.
Police have not said which victims were discovered where, or whether the bedroom doors were secured after the killings. Two of the victims were sleeping on the second level and two were on the third.

Later, the Latah County coroner declared that all four were victims of homicide by stabbing, and that it was likely that they had sustained their injuries while they slept. Police have chosen not to go into any detail, but “some” of them appeared to be fighting back.

In order to protect their suspect, police have withheld most information about the “single, targeted” incident.

More than 260 recordings from local residents that were shot the night of the murders have so far been provided to detectives. They have combed the neighbourhood and conducted a grid search on the forested hill behind the house. They have gathered further evidence from the crime scene, including DNA and fingerprints. Along with other methods, they also obtained cell tower data.

Snell stated, “We employ any and all methods that are at our disposal. “And we’ll keep looking into any and all leads,” she added.

Due to the absence of publicly available information, John Kelly, a criminal profiler and psychotherapist with expertise interviewing serial killers, said he is “up in the air” regarding whether the assailant was a random stalker or someone familiar with the inside of the residence.

But he added that one thing is obvious. He told Fox News Digital, “He truly, really is a beast, with no compassion or empathy or anything like that.

Through Thanksgiving, police, deputies, the county prosecutor, and the FBI worked to solve the murder mystery. They are requesting contact from anyone who may have information on the case.
