“It Was Really Traumatic,” Letitia Wright Says Of The Wakanda Forever Set Accident

It happened in August of 2021 while Wright was filming a chase scene in Boston for the film. During the shot, a “biscuit rig” was used to film Wright from behind, as he rode a motorcycle on location. It “clipped a median and sheared the bike off, and it tumbled,” as stated by producer Nate Moore.

Wright was filming the sequence with the second unit crew, so director Ryan Coogler wasn’t there.

For Coogler, “it was about how you can imagine” when he got the call. You know what I’m saying? These actors are fantastic. The picture has my younger sister and me, and it also features Chad’s little brother. Consider getting the phone call that your young sister has been harmed. It’s the very worst thing that could ever happen.

Coogler and Kevin Feige, president of Marvel, paid a post-accident visit to Wright in Boston. What happened was “horrifying on any production occurring to anybody,” Feige added. It was especially hard on a production that was already under a lot of emotional stress.

After the tragic loss of Chadwick Boseman, who played the title role in the first film, the tale of Black Panther continues in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Also, Wright was resolved to see the project through to the end.

“I simply wanted to finish my film, man,” she added. That was one of the first things I told Ryan. …and he was all, “Tish, you need to heal.”

Production stopped until January 2022 so Wright could recover in London, but she continued to struggle with post-concussion symptoms even after they resumed.

She remarked, “I had excellent, great, great medical support, and great patience on set.” Simply said, I am really pleased with myself. I couldn’t be more impressed with Ryan and this entire team’s perseverance in the face of adversity. After wrapping filming, I broke down into tears.

New Photos From the Black Panther Trailer Show Off Wakanda Forever

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever had to be a sequel to a cultural behemoth, a preview of impending MCU adventures, and of course, a fond farewell, according to a 7/10 review by IGN. There are times when the tale becomes disorganized due to the protagonist’s efforts to juggle all of the many requirements, but the veteran cast members always manage to pull through with impressively complex and emotionally invested turns.

Namor, played by Tenoch Huerta Meja, provides a compelling counterpoint to Shuri by questioning both her ideology and her approach to grief, and the film provides a nuanced (though hurried) backstory for his country, Talokan, to tie in with its themes of colonialism. When Wakanda Forever discusses the death of T’Challa, played by Chadwick Boseman, director/co-writer Ryan Coogler succeeds at his most impressive. Wakanda Forever has a convoluted plot that won’t stick with you, but it doesn’t diminish the power of the new Black Panther.
