A public defender from Broward County who just represented Parkland gunman Nikolas Cruz is being investigated by the Florida Bar.

Cruz was found guilty of murdering 17 people, including 14 pupils and three staff members, and attempted to murder an additional 17 people on February 14, 2018, and was given a life sentence by Judge Elizabeth Scherer on Wednesday.

Assistant public defence Tamara Curtis appeared to turn off the cameras by obliquely scratching her cheek during a court hearing on July 12 as cameras were switching angles and magnification settings.

She chuckled about it with the shooter, who admitted killing 17 people on Valentine’s Day in 2018.

It is unclear if that incident is covered by the Florida Bar’s ongoing investigation, which the Florida Bar confirmed to Fox News Digital on Friday but withheld any additional information.

According to Florida Bar Communications Director Jennifer Krell Davis, the complaint of an inquiry and associated papers are not made public.

Several parents complained about the defence team’s performance throughout Cruz’s protracted trial, which started on July 18, at the sentencing hearing on Wednesday.

I will never ever, ever forgive that moment, but that’s who they were, he said to reporters after the hearing on Wednesday. “Looking at Tamara Curtis take her middle finger and rub it up and down her cheek when she lost an argument in the courtroom, and then just start laughing with the killer over it like an immature punk child — that’s who they were,” he said.

Among those killed in the 2018 mass shooting were Alyssa Alhadeff, 14; Scott Beigel, 35; Martin Duque, 14; Nicholas Dworet, 17; Aaron Feis, 37; Jaime Guttenberg, 14; Chris Hixon, 49; Luke Hoyer, 15; Cara Loughran, 14; Gina Montalto, 14; Joaquin Oliver, 17; Alaina Petty, 14; Meadow Pollack, 18; Helena Ramsay.
