On Thursday, Tarantino appeared on “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” when the host asked: “Kanye West claimed to have developed the concept for “Django Unchained.” Is it accurate to say that he offered the “Gold Digger” video to you guys as a possible video when he was working on it with Jamie Foxx?”

Tarantino answered: “It is untrue that Kanye West came up with the concept for “Django,” informed me about it, and I said, “Hey, wow, that’s a really wonderful idea.” Let me use Kanye’s concept and turn it into “Django Unchained.” That did not occur.”

“Before I ever met Kanye, I had the concept for “Django” for quite some time. He intended to create a massive motion picture that would be similar to how Kanye’s debut studio album, “The College Dropout,” was created. To that end, he wanted to get big directors to adapt various tunes from the album, and then release it as a gigantic motion picture “And Tarantino.

“We utilised it as a justification to get together, and once we did, we had a great time. He did have a concept for a video, though. I do believe that he agreed to become a slave for the “Gold Digger” video. And the entire thing was a slave story in which he sings “Gold Digger” while a slave. And that was hilarious. It was a really funny concept, “added Tarantino. It was a humorous slave video, I mean, Kimmel chimed in.

Then Tarantino said: “Irony was intended in it. And it resembles a massive musical. With him doing everything while wearing this slave rag garb, I mean, no expense was spared. And then there was some backlash on it that included that as well. But I wish he had done it. It had a really amazing sound. In any case, that is what he is referencing.”
