Palestinian officials reported that after Israeli forces raided numerous locations in the occupied West Bank, at least six Palestinians were killed and 21 others were injured.

According to a spokeswoman for the Palestinian Fatah movement, huge numbers of Israeli troops attacked the city of Nablus early on Tuesday and were noticed by Palestinian security personnel and armed militants.

Five Palestinians were killed by Israeli fire, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health. According to Palestinian health and security sources, one of those killed was unarmed.

They are Mishal Baghdadi (27), Wadee al-Hawah (31), Hamdi Qayyem (30), Ali Khaled Antar (26), and Hamdi Mohamed Sharaf (35).

The Palestinian Authority’s headquarters in the occupied West Bank are located in the city of Ramallah, close to the village of Nabi Saleh, where Qusay al-Tamimi, another young Palestinian, was killed, the ministry later stated.

Tamimi was 19 years old, a government spokesperson informed Al Jazeera. The only thing the Israeli military disclosed about its operations in Nablus was that it had personnel there.

According to a statement by his spokesman Nabil Abu Rudeineh, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas is making “urgent contacts” in Nablus “to stop this violence on our people.”

According to Abu Rudeineh on Palestine TV, “all of this will have harmful and devastating effects.”

The Israeli soldiers reportedly stopped the Palestinian Red Crescent’s medical teams from entering the al-Qaryoun neighbourhood to transport the injured.

According to Palestinian accounts, Israeli snipers were stationed on the roofs of homes and structures that overlooked the city centre of Nablus and were using drones to launch missiles.

Later, Israeli soldiers blasted a truck carrying civilians in the Ras al-Ain neighbourhood, killing a Palestinian whose burned body was brought to Rafidia Hospital.

Nida Ibrahim of Al Jazeera reported from Ramallah that armed clashes were still happening in and around the Old City of Nablus in the north of the occupied West Bank.

Local reports have been describing this as a “scene from hell.” According to what we’re hearing, a sizable contingent of Israeli troops has been pushed inside the city,” Ibrahim stated. She stated that Israeli military have already been occupying Nablus for more than two weeks.

Ibrahim said, adding that the organisation recently claimed responsibility for a shooting in which an Israeli soldier was killed. “We’ve seen Israeli soldiers closing down the city because they say that they’re interested in tracking down a group calling itself the Lions’ Den,” Ibrahim added.

The Lions’ Den group began as a result of young people in the city taking up arms to protect it against Israeli incursions, according to Ibrahim Younes, the Palestinian Youth Movement’s communications coordinator, who spoke to Al Jazeera. The group later formalised and took on a name.

“You have to look at a situation where there are 800,000 settlers who are unlawfully occupying a significant percentage of the land there,” Younes said. “To comprehend the perspective of Palestinian kids in the West Bank.”

In his words, “You have ongoing, everyday attacks on Palestinian youngsters, whether they’re crossing checkpoints, whether they’re walking to school or to work.”

When a group declares that they are not going to accept the presence of these settlers on their land, there will undoubtedly be a lot of popularity among young people in the West Bank, he continued.

The Lions’ Den armed organisation reported on Sunday that one of its militants, Tamer al-Kilani, was killed in the Old City of Nablus by explosives hidden on a motorcycle.

Al-Kilani was one of the group’s “fiercest fighters,” according to the group, which claimed responsibility for the explosion that killed him as he passed by.

Regarding the assertion that it was responsible for the assassination, the Israeli military declined to comment. Since March, Israeli forces have been raiding the occupied West Bank at night in an effort, according to Israel, to disrupt armed networks and prevent assaults.

Shireen Abu Akleh, an Al Jazeera journalist, was killed by an Israeli soldier’s bullet in May as she was working in Jenin, in the occupied West Bank.

Abu Akleh was shot dead by Israeli forces in a case that has been characterised by several parties as a targeted killing. She was wearing a press vest and was standing with other journalists when she was killed.
