Authorities claim that a grey Volkswagen Passat attempted to turn in front of a dark grey Kia Forte that the 29-year-old male was driving at “a high rate of speed.”

The press release stated that the impact’s force forced both cars to crash into a wall at the crossroads’s northeast corner, spin out, and come to rest north of the crossing next to a bus bench.

A third vehicle, a red Dodge Neon driven by the other driver, swerved to escape the collision but lost control and came to rest at Harbor Boulevard and Hermosa Drive, one block away.

The Passat driver and the occupants of the Neon and Passat were sent to nearby hospitals with minor injuries, while the Kia driver was pronounced dead at the site. The Neon driver’s state has not been made public.
