At least 13 shots were fired when vehicles seized control of the drifting Archer and Kedzie intersection: Police in Chicago

Chicago, IL (WLS) Following a caravan of around 100 cars on the Southwest Side, five people were shot, three of whom died, according to Chicago police.

At around 4 a.m. on Sunday, a shooting took place in the 4300 block of South Kedzie Avenue in the Brighton Park neighbourhood, according to police.

According to police, they responded to reports of a caravan occupying the Archer and Kedzie crossroads, where drifting was taking place.

Observers and participants can be seen occupying the roadways and speeding close to the crossroads in a video that was provided with ABC7.

Police reported that at least 13 bullets were discharged. Four male shooting victims drove themselves to Mount Sinai and Holy Cross hospitals.

According to authorities, the three victims who passed away, including two 20-year-olds, were members of a gang. The age of the third victim is not yet known.

The two males, aged 21 and 19, who managed to live are in a critical condition but are expected to make a full recovery, according to authorities. How the drag racing turned into a shooting is unknown.

Police claimed they are still seeking for “one or two people” who are “not necessarily” those in the hospital even though they did not find any guns on the scene.

Area One detectives are looking into the case, and no one has been arrested.
