Pfizer had finally shared their plans regarding the approval of the covid-19 vaccine for children under 5 years of age. Pfizer Had already sent an application to FDA regarding this.

The company had planned on meeting with FD on 15th February but they had postponed the meeting to collect more clinical data for the three-dose regimen as the two-dose regimen was already rejected by the company. The company also believes that the third dose is going to have a robust response to the human system for children.

This is updated news was a setback for all the parents with young children who are very much eager to vaccinate their kids. The FDA had already approved the vaccine for 12 to 15 years old last year in May.

Later on, they also approved the vaccine for 5 to 11 years old in October last year.  However, the idea for vaccination of children below 5 years of age has not been approved yet.

For now, all the parents of kids below 5 years are hoping for any new updates regarding the vaccination. Especially during all the hospitalization for children below 5 years of old was at its peak.

Pfizer’s COVID-19 Vaccine for Children Below 5 Years

There was a bigger hike in the Omicron variant during the month of February FDA had requested Pfizer to submit their trial data for authorization small kids.  The initial idea was to have a 2 dose vaccine and it must be given to children between 2 to 4 years of age. Other than that having an idea off also offering 3rd shot for maximum protection from the new variant.

Pfizer

However, that plan got initially changed because Pfizer’s  3-dose plan was in progress and it was moving a lot faster than expected. The company was very much confident about the trial data in a minimum time frame and the data showed some stronger reserves and was providing more protective immune response for the dose.

Along with that this new study is growing at a very fast pace and the companies are waiting to introduce its three-dose as BioNTech and Pfizer believe that this dosage is going to give much more protection to this age group than the 2 dose vaccine.

All the changes in the plan do not mean that there was any problem with the vaccine as said by Zachary Hoy who is a pediatric disease specialist and Pediatric Nashville disease.  All the researchers just want to be very much sure that the vaccine is effective for all the kids below 5 years.

The vaccine test had two different outcomes when applied to two different age groups are all the babies of 6 to 24 months and all the young children of 2 to 4 years of age. Each group of babies was given 3 µg of the vaccine with a gap of 21 days each.

This dose which was given to the age group till 4 years of age were smaller compared to the dose given to 5 to 11 years of age children which were 10 µg and the dosage given to 12 to 15 years of age was 30 µg. So for dosage as a minimum of 3 µg, it was not much of a concern if the children of 4 years are taking this dose.

As per Pfizer, the three dosages were the better immune response from the children below 4 years of age. The two to dosage this vaccine show the results exactly as the immune response they have seen for 16 to 25 years old.

The company had posted all the trials to test the 3 dosages in all the 2 to 4-year-old babies to see if they are giving a better result. The company also said that they have gathered a lot of data and will behang the 3 dose vaccine available from April 2022 The doctor explains further that the trial was initially delayed because the covid vaccine nation for the age group of babies was not yet created

Dr. Hoy explains further that the trial was initially delayed because the covid vaccination for the age group of babies was not yet created. The company wanted it to be a lot immunized for the babies about the vaccine and they have provided that to the children and also have been taking care of all the Results provided by the 2 dosages.

Other than that we are expecting that the final two-stage would be available for all the children below 5 years real soon.  Until any further updates stay tuned with us for all such amazing updates about your favorite shows and characters.
